As novas Mercearias do Porto | New Grocery’s in Porto

In all Porto Locals remain the memories of grocery stores or “mercearias”, a kind of a small,  traditional and familiar shops for everyday goods, particularly food. They existed almost everywhere in the city and on arrival the customers were treated as being part of the family.

Although these small shops were replaced by super and hypermarkets, Porto is witnessing on a real boom of contemporary grocery stores that capture the essence of the familiar and traditional grocery stores filled with products and typical flavors of the national cuisine. Sometimes it is also possible to taste the products before you buy it. It is very common to have some tasting programs.

In one of my walking days, i depared with an Art Store/Atelier, APAIXONARTE. Right in the center of Lisbon, near, Bairro Alto, Santa Catarina and Chiado. Here you can find Cláudia, the owner of this magnificient space, and some pieces design by her, and other creations of Portuguese Artists.

If you're think decorating your apartment, or just have some souvenir from Portugal, this is the place, where you can find from, hand made cookies made in firewood oven, to sofas, or a barber chair. They also have some tipical portuguese things, redesign and recovered.

Like Cláudia says in portuguese, "Vem APAIXONARTE", and if you translate this, it means "Come fall in love".

Believe you will.

Just a curiosity, the 28th Tram, passes right in front of the store.
